About Luis Anibal Calderon at Villa Betulia

Grown by Luis Anibal Calderon at Villa Betulia, this coffee is a masterclass in precision and patience. After harvest, the cherries undergo a 24-hour dry aerobic fermentation to begin flavor development. They are then carefully sealed in GrainPro bags for 50 hours at temperatures kept below 22°C, maintaining a controlled fermentation environment and preserving the coffee’s delicate characteristics. Finally, the cherries are slow-dried on raised beds until they reach 11 percent moisture content, locking in the final expression of flavor.

This lot features the Yirgacheffe variety, a rare gem originally from Ethiopia. Known for its delicate floral aroma, bright citrus acidity, and distinctive notes of tangerine, lemon, and jasmine, Yirgacheffe coffees are celebrated worldwide for their complexity and elegance. Highly productive and quality focused, this variety consistently produces cherries of outstanding calibre.

A meticulous process, a storied variety, and the expert hands of Luis Anibal Calderon come together to create a coffee that is vibrant, refined, and true to its origin.

What Is Filter Roast Anyway?

AKA: If you make espresso, don’t buy this.

Filter roast is coffee that’s been roasted to shine in slow, chill brew methods like pour-over, AeroPress, or drip coffee. It’s all about those delicate, complex flavors — the ones you actually want to taste when you’re not half-asleep and smashing a double shot.

This roast is lighter and sweeter, bringing out the bean’s natural character (like wine, but less pretentious). Perfect for those who like to savor their coffee, not slam it back.

So, if your coffee machine sounds like a jet engine, this one’s not for you. But if you love a clean, balanced brew that makes your mornings feel a little brighter — welcome to the filter roast club. 😎
