Doing the bright thing

Aussies drink 37 million kilograms of coffee a year. That’s a lot of coffee (and let’s be honest, we at Brightside are drinking our fair share). But behind every cup is a farmer working hard to grow those beans. Sadly, the reality for many farmers is unfair prices, complex supply chains, and low wages, while middlemen take the biggest slice of the pie.

We think that’s pretty messed up.

At Brightside, we’re on a mission to change the way coffee is sourced, one bag at a time. We’re here to shine a light on the farmers growing your coffee and make sure they’re fairly paid for their hard work.

Let’s break it down.

From Farmers, not corporations

We don’t do corporate coffee.

You won’t find vague labels like “Coffee from Brazil” on our bags. Instead, you’ll see exactly who grew your coffee. Whether it’s Cezar Angelo and his family or a women-led cooperative in the Mantiqueira de Minas region, we work directly with sourcing partners who know the farmers by name.

Brightside coffees come from real people, not faceless corporations. Because knowing where your coffee comes from — and who it supports — makes it taste that much better.

We Pay a Premium

Great coffee doesn’t happen by cutting corners.

At Brightside, we pay a premium price for every bean to make sure everyone along the supply chain is fairly paid for their work — from the farmers planting the seeds to the people packing your coffee.

It’s not about finding the cheapest beans. It’s about respecting the work that goes into every step of the process and making sure the people behind your coffee can sustainably grow, harvest, and process the best beans possible.

When farmers get fair pay, they can invest back into their farms — improving crop quality, sustainability practices, and long-term viability. That means better coffee for you and a more secure future for farmers.

In a world where too many corners get cut, we’re here to do things right.

100% Specialty Grade Coffee

No cheap beans. No fillers. No nasties.

Every bag of Brightside is filled with 100% specialty-grade coffee — the highest quality beans grown with care. Specialty coffee means better flavor, more care at origin, and more sustainable practices.

It’s also about ethics. Farmers growing specialty-grade coffee get paid more, which is how it should be. So when you drink Brightside, you’re not just getting a better brew — you’re supporting a better future for coffee farmers.

Supporting Local Initiatives

We’re proud to support groups like Educare Coffee, a non-profit project that’s changing lives in Brazil’s coffee-growing communities.

Educare helps farmers improve their knowledge, financial outcomes, and well-being. Through programs like financial educationdata collection, and quality control, farmers gain the tools they need to grow better coffee and achieve long-term success.

Not a Ghostery

We’re a real-deal coffee roastery.

Unlike some brands, we don’t outsource our roasting to a ghost roastery. Every batch of Brightside coffee is roasted in-house by people who live and breathe coffee.

Roasting our own beans means we control the quality, flavor, and freshness of every bag. It’s not about chasing fat profits with zero soul — it’s about bringing you great coffee with a conscience.

Committed to sustainable packaging

We’re committed to reducing waste and keeping our packaging as eco-friendly as possible.

Our coffee tins are a big part of that. Instead of single-use bags, we supply cafes using reusable tins, cutting down on packaging waste. And when we do use bags, we make sure they’re fully compostable, sourced from EcoBarista.

Sustainability doesn’t stop at packaging. We’re always looking for ways to reduce our environmental impact and support initiatives that protect the future of coffee farming.
